FIVA - An Adventure That Went Wrong. Gordon Stainforth

Fiva book launch

The Fiva book launch was held at Outside Hathersage Café on the evening of Thursday March 29, 2012. After a buffet, Gordon gave an hour long illustrated talk that was warmly received by an enthusiastic audience.

Among the guests were: Brian Capper and Hugh Tassell who had been on John and Gordon's ill-fated trip to Norway in 1969, and whom they had not seen since; old climbing friends of Gordon from different parts of the country - Nick Gregory, Bill Wintrip, Chris Fitzhugh and David Hope; mountaineering publisher Ken Wilson, climbing journalist Ed Douglas, award-winning author Hilary McKay, and Sir William and Lady Bromley-Davenport, the owners of Fiva Farm in Romsdal in Norway, after which the Fiva Route is named. Photographer Ashley Franklin was on hand to record the event for a forthcoming feature in Derbyshire Life

Thanks to Chris & the staff of Outside for helping to make the event such a success.
